What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks are a common problem, especially among pregnant women and patients who are obese. While stretch marks do not present a medical concern, their appearance on the body can make one feel self-conscious and embarrassed. Stretch marks are caused by damage to the dermis of the skin and may appear near the armpits, on the thighs, abdomen, groin and chest.

How does stretch mark removal work?

Laser treatments have been proven effective for reducing stretch marks. The technology works by stimulating the pigment-producing melanin of your skin, which darkens the stretch marks, making them less visible against the surrounding skin.

During stretch mark removal in NYC, a topical anesthesia may be used for your comfort. Stretch mark removal is performed by applying laser energy to the treatment area with a special device. Our board-certified dermatologists will determine which type of laser is best suited for your particular skin type.
