Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists

Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists, led by Dr. David Goldberg, a board-certified dermatologist, is dedicated to providing each new patient with first-class, personalized care. Among our favorite treatments is Juvederm Volbella, one of the premier dermal fillers on the market. Volbella is the first and only product able to provide lip enhancement as well as correct lip lines for up to one year. Dr. Goldberg and his staff offer Volbella treatments to patients desiring facial rejuvenation.

What is Volbella?

A new injectable filler engineered to improve the skin around the lips and mouth, Volbella provides lip definition and volume, smoothing the fine lines around the mouth. It also decreases the look of depressions at the corners of your mouth.

Volbella was engineered similarly to Allergan’s Voluma® filler in that Vycross™ technology was utilized to create an appealing look and natural feel, providing attractive results that last up to one year. In addition, this treatment contains an anesthetic to alleviate discomfort during the injections.

Volbella is unique compared to other injectables in that the formula was developed specifically for addressing issues of overfilling and deflation around the mouth. It offers particularly natural, subtle results due to the ultra-smooth gel filler. Volbella drastically reduces the likelihood of any unnatural appearance.

How do I know I can trust Volbella with my smile?

The Juvederm® product line, including Volbella, uses therapeutic levels of hyaluronic acid to gently smooth fine lines around the mouth and softly enhance the lips. Volbella uses Vycross™ technology and a lower hydrophilic composition to produce wonderfully natural results. Our dermatologists inject the ultra-smooth gel with a fine needle. Research shows that 98% of Volbella recipients feel that they’ve achieved their aesthetic goals through this cosmetic treatment.

How long does Volbella last?

This product is superior to other injectable fillers due to its longevity. An impressive 80% of those who choose the treatment are still happy with the results up to one year later.

What can Volbella lip injections do for you?

  • Smooth unsightly vertical lines above and below the mouth
  • Provide border definition around the lips
  • Make the lips appear fuller and plumper
  • Increase the definition of the cupid’s bow (the “M” shape above the top lip)
  • Fill in “marionette lines” between the corners of the mouth down to the chin

Will Volbella injections hurt?

Vycross™ products such as Volbella are very smooth, which facilitates easy injection. Each application contains a therapeutic dose of Lidocaine, which reduces any pain you might experience and makes the process more comfortable for you.

Will there be swelling after Volbella?

Minor swelling and bruising are normal following cosmetic facial treatments. Because Volbella absorbs less water than other injections, you will typically experience less swelling than you may have with other treatments. Recovery is usually fast, and any swelling or bruising will clear up in under a week. In addition, allergic reactions are extremely rare due to the fact that hyaluronic acid already exists naturally in the human body.

Can Volbella treatments be combined with additional treatments?

Volbella may be used in conjunction with cosmetic laser procedures in order to enhance the results around your mouth. You can discuss this option with our providers in order to determine if it is the right choice for your situation and desired look.

A message from Dr. David Goldberg and the team at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of NY & NJ:

Dear Patients,

Our providers and staff recognize that we are all faced with difficult times as this pandemic continues to unfold throughout our area. However, the continuation of your care remains our top priority!

At this time, our New York City office is temporarily closed.

In our effort to provide you with the highest level of service, the Hackensack and Hillsborough NJ offices will remain open until further notice with limited hours of availability. We ask for your understanding with our protocols on hand washing and social distancing when you arrive for your appointment. Please do not come to the office if you are experiencing a cough, fever, shortness of breath, or other symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Should you prefer not to visit the office in person, our providers are now offering virtual office visits. This is commonly known as telemedicine, or in this case, teledermatology. Our dedicated concierge team will assist you in scheduling a virtual appointment with your provider, including those in the New York City office.

Currently, the government mandates that the only way to have these virtual visits is to communicate via FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, or WhatsApp video. This is because your medical providers needs to see you, and you can show the provider the problem area of your body that you are concerned about. You will also be able to discuss any other issues regarding your ongoing care or for any new skin concerns you may have. Your provider may tell you that an in-person visit may be required for testing or more in-depth examination. In that case, a concierge team member will reach out to schedule an in-office visit.

To schedule your in-person or virtual appointment, please call our office at 908-359-8980 or email [email protected] Our concierge team members will schedule a time for your medical provider to call you back. We have set aside times for all of our medical providers to call you for your virtual appointment.

Please be aware that virtual visits must be billed to your medical health insurance just as they would for an in-person office visit. If your insurance has recently changed, please have that information ready to provide to our team members. Depending on your insurance plan, you may have financial obligations such as co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance just as you would for an in-office visit (at the present time, the government has only waived co-pays related to COVID-19 testing).

We understand that this is a stressful time, but we are here for you!

Stay safe and healthy,

Dr. David Goldberg and the team at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of NY & NJ
