Question:
I am a female in my early 20s. After starting to take an oral contraceptive, my hair begins to fall out. I’ve tried several contraceptives and they all have the same results. Is there an oral medication I can take to counteract the effects of my birth control?
Answer:
Hair loss in women can be a very complicated problem. If this is solely related to your birth control pills, you may wish to consider an alternative form of birth control. In addition, your thyroid function tests should be evaluated to make sure your thyroid gland is not, at least in part, the culprit.
