What are age spots?
Age spots, also known as sun spots or solar lentigines, typically appear on your face, hands and back as brownish or grey discolorations on your skin. Age spots are caused by sun exposure and normally do not require medical treatment. Many patients, however, seek treatment from our office for cosmetic reasons.
Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists offers several laser treatments for age spots. The most common laser devices used in our facility for age or sun spot removal include:
- Intense pulsed light laser
- Broad band light laser
- Q-Switched laser
- Picosecond laser
While there are many different lasers available to remove age spots and sun damage, our providers will select that device to help you achieve the best results. Our practice features lasers that can safely and effectively treat skin of all types and tones.
How do age and sun spot lasers work?
The laser energy of penetrates the areas of pigment that cause age spots and sun spots and breaks apart the pigmentation. Your body then naturally absorbs the particles of pigment.
The benefits of these lasers include:
- Removes sun and brown spots
- Removes tattoos
- Results in only minor skin irritation after treatment
- Stimulates new collagen to improve skin tone
- Many patients require only one treatment
What is the cost of age and sun spot removal?
Because every patient has different placement and volume of age or sun spots, the cost for your individual treatment cost will be determined after a thorough consultation and exam with one of our board-certified dermatologists. Our office also accepts CareCredit® and Alphaeon™ Credit to help you get the treatment you deserve right away.
